Pairings drawn for 1,000 day countdown tournament
The semi-final pairings of the U-16 international tournament – one of the ceremonial events to be held to mark the 1,000-day countdown to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ on Friday, 18 September – have been announced. The first semi-final, set to kick off in Red Square at 12:15, will see Italy take on Russia, while Germany and Spain will meet in the second semi-final.

Volunteers at the centre of Russia’s 1,000 day countdown on 18 September
On Friday 18 September 2015, there will be exactly 1,000 days before the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ begins with the Opening Match at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. To mark this significant milestone, over 45,000 people in 33 cities across Russia will take part in a whole host of events organised by the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee (LOC) with support from the Volunteer Centres Association and the Russian Student Sports Clubs Association.
