Yekaterinburg is among the three leaders of a media rating
Higher Media Index creates more favorable and positive image of a country in the information field. It is.
A special monitoring and analysis system “Medialogia” published a rating of the Russian host cities in the context of FIFA World Cup of 2018 mention (according to: rossiya2018.rf).
The research was conducted from July, 2014 to July, 2015.
The rating table of the cities is made on the basis of a media index which reflects the quality of the information field. The one formed by mass media round the concrete region where tournament matches will be played. The rating is constructed with the “Medialogia” system including about 25 800 mass media sources: TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, news agencies, the Internet:
1. Moscow - 77 484,17;
2. St. Petersburg - 60 878,89;
3. Yekaterinburg - 49 468,21;
4. Samara - 47 031,99;
5. Rostov-on-Don - 46 683,75;
6. Volgograd - 40 725,96;
7. Nizhny Novgorod - 38 424,27;
8. Sochi - 38 347,41;
9. Kaliningrad - 37 461,93;
10. Kazan - 29 651,06;
11. Saransk - 28 169,83.
To figure out the Media Index, some parameters of each message with host city’s mention are considered. The tone (positive, negative or neutral), source’s drawback (how frequently the media channel is quoted in other mass media), the object's role (prominent or episodic) - is also incorparated in the analysis process.
The higher Media Index has a region, the more favorably and positively it presented in the information field, respectively.
