The Volunteer Centers of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia in 11 cities-organisers recorded more than 20 000 applications on the first day of campaign from those who want to volunteer in 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and 2017 FIFA Confederation Cup, these are impressive numbers compared to the data of the previous volunteer campaigns in the country. By the end of June 6, the number of application reached 31 558.

Applications are accepted on ru.fifa.com/volunteers until the end of 2016.

“Honestly, the results of the applications of the potential volunteers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia was pleasantly surprised – the Chairman of the Organizing Committee “Russia 2018”, Russian Minister of sport Vitaly Mutko stated. – This indicates a high interest in the tournament among active population of our country and demonstrates that the institute of volunteering in Russia is reaching new level. I urge everyone who is interested in in the FIFA World Cup and Confederation Cup, or just want to take part in the organization of this historic event, to take advantage of this unique opportunity and become a part of the volunteer team “Russia 2018”.

The great interest for the Volunteers’ recruitment campaign was from foreign candidates: 9% of all applications were from 150 countries. At this moment, most of the applications were sent by candidates from China and Mexico, whose national team will participate in the 2017 FIFA Confederation Cup as a representative of the CONCACAF zone.

In Russia, most of the applications were received in Volunteers center in Moscow (7 783 applications) and Saint Petersburg (3 926 applications). Also the top five cities in the numbers of applications are Rostov-on-Don (2 253), Sochi (1 745) and Nizhny Novgorod (1 744).

Today 65% of the candidates are women. At the same time 81% of applications are from candidates aged between 16 and 25 years of age, 13% of the candidates are from 26 to 40 years old, and 3% applications are from candidates who are from 41 to 60 years and 60 years and older.

The most popular areas in which the candidates willing to take part in are services for the teams (there are 5 812 applications from those who want to help organizers in this area), ceremonies (3 135 applications) and language services (2 273 applications).
