The upcoming festival of football in Russia is getting closer, with the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 now just over 100 days away. Carles Puyol, who captained Spain to triumph at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, came to Russia to have a look at how preparations are progressing ahead of the Tournament of Champions.

The former Barcelona man gave his impressions on the country's preparations for the Confederations Cup and spoke about his expectations for the upcoming tournament in an interview with FIFA.com.

"First of all, I'm looking forward to memorable and spectacular matches in Russia involving excellent players. Bearing in mind the kind of football Germany and Chile have been playing recently, I'd say these two are favourites".

The full interview is availble on FIFA.com.

Besides that Carles Puyol has managed to squeeze in a wide variety of activities during his brief two-day visit to Russia. Before arriving at the Volunteer Centre to meet 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 volunteer candidates, Puyol saw one of capital city's main attractions, the Moscow Metro, and even a took a ride on a train designed in the signature style of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017.

“I can’t recall having played in Moscow. However, judging by today’s experience, including the ride in Moscow’s subway, this seems to be a city that will have plenty to offer to the fans besides the Confederations Cup and World Cup matches,” he said.

Video footage of Carles Puyol riding Moscow metro and playing football with 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 volunteers candidates can be downoaded via the links below.
