Cinema at the FIFA Fan Fest

Tuesday, 19 June 2018, 11:01

The Street Cinema World Festival reached the Fan Fest in Ekaterinburg! On June 18th, at its venue, you were able to see the best short films from around the world.

The Street Cinema World Festival is an annual short film review, held in the world's outdoor venues since 2014 onwards. During the festival, events took place on the embankments, squares and roofs of houses in 67 countries. At different times, Ban Ki-moon, Emir Kusturica, Nikita Mikhalkov, Pavel Lungin, Vladimir Pozner and other socially significant persons expressed their support for the festival. In 2015, the project broke the world record as the longest traveling festival on the planet.

However, the most important event of the Fan Fest is football! Even though the weather of Ural still has not allowed guests and residents of Ekaterinburg to relax, before the first match of the previous day, fans of Sweden and South Korea had been seen. The most persistent of them continued to watch and support their teams even if it was raining cats and dogs, and for their perseverance they had themselves awarded memorable prizes by the Fan Fest organizers! The same "fate" was waiting for the best dancers, who had been noticed before the broadcast of the game "Belgium-Panama". The day ended with a spectacular confrontation between Tunisia and England, which culminated in a minimal victory of the team of Albion with 2-1 as the final score.

Today promises to be hot at the FIFA Fan Fest venue - At 23:00 during the live broadcast, Russia will combat Egypt for a qualifying ticket in group "A" that will give them access to the knockout stage of the World Cup! Support to the Russian team and best of luck from the Ural State Academic Russian Folk Chorus before the game. Also, it will be seen the evolution of encounters in the other groups at 17:00 with the game opposing "Colombia and Japan", later at 20:00 - "Poland and Senegal".

The fan zone will open at 15:00. Expectations of matches will be brightened up as usual by interactive games, entertainment programs, food court with traditional Ural cuisines, and valuable prizes. Additionally, to get to the festival and return home, free high-speed shuttles are available after the closure of the venue. Schedules and routes can be found here:
