Latina Dance Weekend: Lambada, Hugs and Football!

Sunday, 17 June 2018, 11:27

The first day of the weekend was opened with world champions in salsa and bachata, and participants of the show "Dancing" on TNT, Maxim Shcherbakov and Ekaterina Putintseva. To make the audience not bored, Maxim and Katya, with the support of the dancers of Ekaterinburg, conducted a master class on salsa for all those present at the venue. In honor of the only five-time holders of the World Cup, the Brazilian zouk music was played and the atmosphere of the carnival in Rio was created!

Closer to three o'clock in the afternoon, inflatable kangaroos and tricolor scarves sped on the platform - fans of France and Australia came to support their teams. The game turned out to be exciting and gave France a goal, yellow card, and 1-0-victory. Then, the dances were poured out in abundance: lindy hop and solo jazz, dance jams and master classes - Ekaterinburg is fairly considered one of the dancing capitals of Russia.

By 18:00 the number of spectators on the Fan Fest venue increased significantly - everyone was waiting for the bearded Vikings from Iceland, and the one of the best attacking teams of all time. The broadcast of the match "Argentina-Iceland" was the most memorable game of the past day. At least because Messi did not score a single goal, which was expected from him by most fans around the world, unexpectedly the final score was "1: 1".

To remind all those present that football is primarily a game and a big holiday, fans were offered a unifying Latin American dance - Lambada. The most massive lambada, if not in the world, then in the country certainly, grew crescendo into a reconciling embrace between the two groups of fans!

The last game of the day was preceded by the master classes from the best dancers of the city, and before the match Peru-Denmark, indigenous Peruvian Talia Teio performed salsa rueda, and wished in Spanish good luck to both teams, because the last time Peru was to the final round of the World Cup was 36 years ago.

Today, the Fan Fest opens at 15:00 until one o'clock next day’s morning. One will get acquainted with bachata and reggaetón through master classes, and in the evening weave in mass dance. The Champions of the world and Russia will show the movement and build lambada. For the musical part, a group of Latin American rhythms - "Salmoscuba" will carry on!

As reminder, the entrance to the festival is completely free. No tickets and FAN ID!
