Russian quadrocyclist, the winner of the annual rally-marathon "Dakar-2017" Sergey Karyakin joined the team of the Ambassadors of Ekaterinburg, the host city of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The ceremony of presenting the new Ambassador was held on April 16 at the match "Ural" - "Tom". Before the game Sergey Karyakin spoke with candidates for the 2018 World Cup volunteers, and then in the presence of several thousand Ural fans opened the match and made the first symbolic blow on the ball.
The certificate of the ambassador was presented to Sergey Karyakin by the deputy head of the Administration of the Ekaterinburg city for the organization of significant Russian and international events Sergey Tushin.
"Today we signed an agreement with a man who is absolutely decent to represent Russia and Ekaterinburg. Sergey Karyakin is an outstanding, versatile racer. This is the person who shows our feature, first of all, it is the Ural character. He has fully proved that he can be the champion and the Ambassador of the World Cup," he said.
"It is a great honor to become an Ambassador of Ekaterinburg. I will try to continue winning. I know that in 2018 we will cope with the role of the host city of the World Cup on the "excellent" level. I want everyone - athletes, fans, residents and guests of the city experienced the most vivid emotions from this celebration. I hope that the World Cup will become an important part of the history of Ekaterinburg," Karyakin mentioned.
Ambassadors take part in promoting the image and traditions, national and regional characteristics of the host city of the 2018 FIFA 2018 World Cup. The team of the Ambassadors of Ekaterinburg includes composer and playwright Alexander Pantykin, Olympic champion in biathlon Anton Shipulin, Russian national football team player Oleg Shatov, Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Irina Zilber and others.
