Activists of the volunteer centers of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia will take part in the UEFA Euro 2016 in France, which starts on 10 June in Paris. Total of 20 people from 7 cities-organizers of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, such as Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Moscow, Samara, Saint Petersburg, Saransk and Sochi, will represent the country in France and gain experience for the future events in Russia.

16 girls and 4 boys will assist organizers in eight cities of UEFA Euro 2016: Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Toulouse and Saint-Etienne. The area of their activities during the tournament will be very different: ticketing program, hospitality, volunteer management, work with the audience, accreditation, marketing, coordination of the media, meeting the VIP-guests at the airport, sustainable development.

Albina Gilizutdinova from Kazan is the future translator, fluent in English, French and Chinese, the activist of volunteer movement since 2012. During this period, she has gained enough experience in international events, including the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, the 2014 European Championship in Badminton, 2015 FINA World Championship.

“In 2012, when my volunteer experience just started, I was applying for the University and unexpectedly began to follow the UEFA Euro 2012 in Ukraine and Poland. It was then, one and forever, when I fell for football, - Albina shared with FIFA.com –At that moment, the idea of getting to Euro seemed impossible. It has been 4 years, I learned two languages and now I am going to UEFA Euro 2016 as a volunteer, and I have a chance to create this celebration. Why is it so important to me? It proves that the bravest and most unbelievable dreams at first sight could actually be real!”

Nikita Yashchuk, who is a third year student of Moscow State Institute of International Relations, has no volunteering experience yet. He came to France to learn all the details of the organization of one of the most exciting football tournaments on the planet. “In my opinion, the meaning of volunteering is in a mutually beneficial exchange between the volunteers and the organizers. Volunteers help in organizing and conducting the event, and receive an invaluable experience, the opportunity to work and grow in this area. – Nikita says. – From my trip to France I expect a variety of emotions, new acquaintances with people who share my love for football! I want to feel the atmosphere of the celebration of football. And I am sure it is much more than any money.”

The team of Russian volunteers will take part in preparation and conduction of UEFA Euro 2016, these experience and skills will be used on the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. However, the next serious test is waiting for them in a year, when 2017 FIFA Confederation Cup starts in Russia.
