Preparation of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup has become one of the key themes of the 9th meeting of the Board of the Organizing Committee "Russia 2018" with participation of FIFA, last July 5 in Moscow. The tournament, which will take place in four Russian cities from 17 June to 2 July next year, continues to find its own unique features.

Following the emblem of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which was presented on February 3 during the celebration of 500 days before the start of the tournament, "Festival of the Champions" also got its own slogan. "Football of the Champions. Dream of the fans "- the keynote of this slogan reflects in the best way possible the essence of a bright football festival, which is waiting for all the loyal fans of the most popular game in the world, who are preparing for next summer to visit Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan and Sochi.

Organizing Committee of the Board of the Moscow meeting was the first for the new FIFA General Secretary Fatma Samoura, appointed to this position in the annual FIFA Congress this year in May in Mexico City. On the part of the Organizing Committee "Russia 2018" meeting was headed by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko.

In addition to the slogan of 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, during the meeting the preparations for the draw of the tournament was discussed, which will be held November 26 in Kazan.

The seventh of the eight participants in the draw and of the tournament will be determined this week. Following the mistress of the upcoming "Festival of the Champions" the Russian team, world champions Germany and the winners of four continental championships - Chile, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand - the fans are preparing to find out the name of the new European champion. If Germany will be the winner of 2016 EURO Championship, another finalist will participate in 2017 FIFA Confederation Cup.

The preparation of Russian FIFA Confederation Cup stadiums is also underway. Several stadiums, such as Moscow stadium "Spartak" and "Kazan Arena", where “Ruby” team plays, are ready for the start of the new season in the Russian Premier League. The final stage is the adaptation of the Olympic Stadium "Fischt" in Sochi, which will open its doors to football fans in the autumn. By the end of this year the main 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup arena – “Stadium St. Petersburg” will be put into operation. In September, experts of FIFA and the Organizing Committee will examine the readiness of the stadiums of the tournament as part of the next, the third operation visit.

Fatma Samoura, for whom this visit to Russia was the first, along with her deputies Marco Villiger and Zvonimir Boban also took the opportunity to visit the "Luzhniki Stadium" which is going to be the main arena of 2018 FIFA World Cup.
