Two-time winner Júlio Baptista to take part in FIFA Confederations Cup draw
The Official Draw for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 will feature a very special guest, whose footballing career has intertwined with the tournament. Júlio Baptista will be on stage in Kazan on 26 November, when the Brazilian midfielder will be reunited with the trophy that he won at back-to-back tournaments, in 2005 and 2009.
“Some of the brightest moments in my career happened during the FIFA Confederations Cup. In fact, my first cap with the national team came against Japan in the 2001 edition,” said 35-year-old Baptista, who currently plays for Orlando City in the United States’ Major League Soccer.
“The idea of gathering all the continental champions in a single tournament is fantastic. I am really proud to somehow be involved in the 2017 edition.”
